About Us
Wimberly Agency was started in 1958. It began as a small agency in the Castor General Store. From there J. Hugh and Elaine Wimberly moved the agency to Ringgold and the second generation took ownership.
M. Ripp Wimberly became president of Wimberly Agency in 1970 and grew the small operation into a large Commercial and Personal lines insurance agency. Building on the areas resources and commerce that include logging, oil & gas, contractors (large and small), churches, municipalities and many other entities, Ripp expanded the agency and expanded the companies available to its clients.
Recently the third generation has contributed to the growth of the agency to 5 locations and and has doubled the size of the overall agency. Matt Wimberly has been a member of the Wimberly Agency team since childhood and became a driving force in 2004.
The father and son duo have since expanded into new territories. The Minden location was opened in 2009 and Homer and Haynesville locations were added in 2016. In January 2017 Wimberly Agency acquired the highly-respected Minden agency of Woodard, Walker and Mullin and began a partnership with Mr. Tommy Walker, one of the agency’s founders. The Shreveport location opened in the fall of 2020.
Wimberly Agency has always strived to provide the best possible product tailored to the client, the best atmosphere for its family of employees, and the best presence in all communities it serves.
